A specimen fabrication method for simulating the bonding quality of solid propellant inhibitor was proposed in this paper.The bonding quality of the solid propellant inhibitor was evaluated by shearography,and the NDT capability of this technique was also discussed.Firstly,the fabrication method of artificial defects in solid propellant inhibitor was thoroughly introduced,and three specimens with the defects′ diameters about 2~4 mm are prepared.Then,the basic principle of shearography was roughly introduced,and the test optical path based on Michelson interferometry was constructed.The vacuum excitation was applied to load the specimens.Meanwhile a solid propellant inhibitor product was tested by this technique.The experimental results showed that shearography method was a very effective method to evaluate the bonding quality of solid propellant inhibitor,and it can detect the defect with a diameter of about 2 mm.This study provided technical support for the fabrication of bonding defects of solid propellant inhibitor and the detection of this type of defects.
