A novel method to control thin-film filter and detect the Bragg wavelength offsets of fiber Bragg grating ( FBG) with microcontroller has been demonstrated. The real-time measurements of the strains have been experienced within a FBG strain sensing system. A high performance giantmagnetostrictive material (GMM) is utilized to produce significantBraggwavelength shifts in FBGs,When current changes from 1A to 5A, the offsets of the centerwavelength reaches 1. 1nm (1551. 94nm~1553. 04nm) , and it increases linearlywith the current. Programmable current are used to controllably strain and shift of the Bragg wavelength of the FBGs. This system has many advantages, such as high resolution and high precision.
