Abstract:The Nd∶ YAG precursor powders with loosely dispersed, slightly agglomerated and YAG pure cubic crystal phase were synthesized at 1000℃ by the homogeneous precip itation method, using Nd2O3 , Y2O3 , A I (NO3 ) 3 ·9H2O、(NH4 ) 2 SO4 and urea as raw materials, TEOS as sintering additive. The Nd∶YAG transparent ceramics were prepared after being sintered at 1700℃ in vacuum for 5 hours.The Nd∶YAGceramic materialswere characterized by the XRD, FT-IR, FT-PL and ESEM. The results show that the lasingwavelength ofNd∶YAG transparent ceramics is 1. 065μm and there exists a slight red-shift compared to the single crystalwith the same chemical composition. Pores,grain boundaries and impurity phases in the micrograph of Nd∶YAG ceramic fracture surface lower the optical trans-parency of ceramics greatly.
