Abstract:Large size fluoride single crystals LiF , CaF2 and LaF3 have been grown by Bridgman-Stockbarger method in homemade furnace using a graphite crucible. Fluoridization of raw materials was carried out by heating commercial raw materials with a flow of HF gas in a horizontal furnace , and anhydrous crystalline fluorides were synthesized for the growth. By optimizing the growth conditions , such as a suitable temperature profile , high-quality seeds and a small cooling rate , fluoride crystals of LiF , CaF2 and LaF3 were grown successfully and their sizes were <110mm×50mm , <200mm×45mm and <50mm×50mm , respectively.
