The output and running characteristics of the 1064nm Nd∶YAG laser for the pumping source of the optical parametric generator (OPG) are demonstrated. The pulse-shapes were obtained by numerial calculating the Qswitched rate equations and the influence of the pulse-shapes on OPGwere analysed. 3. 20W of average output power at TEM00 1064nm was achieved at incident pump power of 9. 3W with pulse repetition rate of 20kHz, corresponding to a optical conversion efficiency of 34. 4%. The peak power of 60kW was obtained. The pump source with high peak power and narrow pulse width has created the condition for the OPG with high beam quality, broad tuning and high conversion efficiency.
