The principle and advantages of laser propulsion has been described, and the selection of laser power source for laser propulsion is deeply analyzed. The output power of 10 kW level through fiber laser combination could be achieved, with its inherent advantages that the traditional TEA pulse CO2 laser could not compare, thus the fiber laser is the optimum choice of laser source for laser propulsion.
