Infrared smoke screen is an important countermeasure against infrared imaging tracker. The extent of infrared smoke screen shielding on ship target affects directly on the tracker′s performance. The evaluation method of infrared smoke screen shielding on ship target using fractal fitting error is analyzed,and the εblanket method of calculating image fractal dimension is improved. The experiment shows that compared with contrast evaluation method and correlation evaluation method,the proposed method can reflect the extent of infrared smoke screen shielding on ship target better,and is an effect evaluation method.
