Adaptive threshold binarization of infrared image based on the characteristic of grey scale grads between target and background is proposed in this paper.This paper also introduced a design to achieve the new method by using modularization method and characteristic of paralleled and pipeline of FPGA.This design contains two modules:grey scale binarization module and adaptive threshold T module.The former carries out streamline computation of binarization with synchronous signals.The binarization is based on the range of grey scale grads which is also carried out by first module.The adaptive threshold T module adjusts threshold T and control the binarization module.Results of experiments show that this design can process image binarization of infrared image with short delay and low fake alerts.It satisfies the real-time processing requirement.
