Abstract:A new enhancement algorithm based on Otsu and plateau equalization for IR images is presented.First,by analyzing the histogram of image,the image is segmented into the background section and the object section by the improved algorithm based on the Otsu.According to the peak value of the background section,and the local peak value of the object part remained in the background section,the plateau value is acquired by a self-adapting method.At last,histogram equalization takes into use in two sections range.Thus,it can effectively restrain excessive contrast enhancement of the background section and the gray space of the object section is improved.Experiment results show that the proposed new algorithm is efficient.
