The important factors affecting the strain transfer of polymer optical fiber sensors are deduced based on the existent strain transfer model in this paper.The factors include the length of the sensor,the linear viscoelastic parameter,the thickness and Poisson′s ratio of the adhesive interlayer.The relationship between the average strain transfer rate (ASTR)and each parameter is deduced.The result show that the ASTR increases with the elastic modulus of Kelvin unit of the adhesive interlayer,decreases with the thickness of the adhesive interlayer,increases with the length of the sensor with transient response;the ASTR increases with the elastic modulus of spring unit of the adhesive interlayer,decreases with the thickness of the adhesive interlayer,increases with the length of the sensor with steady-state response.The influence of Poisson′s ratio of the adhesive interlayer on the ASTR is very small,which could be neglected.
