Rare-earth-doped waveguide amplifiers have received increasing attention in the past few years due to the small size and potential applications to integrate with other optical devices,such as splitters,couplers,and switches.In this paper,the progress in research on the rare-earth-doped polymer waveguide amplifiers at 1.33 μm and 1.53 μm wavelengths is reviewed.The characteristics for different polymer waveguide amplifiers are discussed.
