Because of its unique advantages,infrared detection technology has been applied in the field of airborne applications.With the development of infrared detectors,what role the infrared detection can play in the Airborne Warning and Control System（AWACS） of Early Warning Aircraft and how it can be realized have come to be a new focus.In this paper,starting from the principle and feature of infrared detection technology,combining with the characteristics of the AWACS′s mission,the obvious advantages of infrared detection technology in the field of early warning detection,surveillance,reconnaissance and driver assistance have been analyzed deeply.It is also proven that the infrared detection technology plays a significant role in improving the comprehensive combat capability and the air survivability of Early Warning Aircraft.
