The current development trend of the large aperture telescope is expounded. In order to ensure the mirror surface accuracy,the flexure support is the essential technology. From the factors that thermal and gravity coupling load conditions affect the mirror surface figure,the necessity of flexible technology in the telescope support system is explained. The advantages of flexible support are summarized comparing with rigid support,and several principles are given when the flexible support is designed. Lateral flexible support structures including three points tangent support,edge support,bipod flexible support are introduced,and these support structures in the application of several large telescopes are introduced. Application fields and development prospect of flexible support technology are summarized,which offer some references for the further development of the flexible support technology.
