The dynamic thermal distortion caused by the thermal effect in solid state laser affects high power laser′s output and beam quality,which restricts its potential applications in modern industrial processing and scientific research. Taking the production mechanism of laser wave front distortion and advantages of the liquid cooled side-pumped slab as a starting point,the wave front distortion caused by thermal effect in the liquid cooled side-pumped slab was measured by Hartmann-Shack wave front detector. Through the analysis of the measurement results of wave front distortion,the improved method is proposed,which reduces the thermal effect of the liquid cooled side-pumped slab laser.
