Infrared laser jamming uses laser to irradiate infrared imaging system, which makes infrared detector temporary failure or permanent failure. When a high power off-band laser beam irradiates infrared system, the temperature of some sensitive elements in infrared system will rise, and then these elements irradiate infrared beams outward. When off-band laser with two wavelengths of 1.06 μm and 2.5 μm irradiates mid-wave infrared imaging system, the whole physical process was analyzed and numerically simulated by ray tracing method and finite element method. The results show that the temperature of the mirror in the system rises obviously, and temperature rise is related to the wavelength and power intensity of incident light. When the temperature raises a certain value, the mirror emits in-band infrared radiation outward. After infrared radiation reaches image surface,it uniformly distribute on the whole image surface and becomes a kind of strong background noise, which decreases the detection ability of infrared detector.
