Multi-class ship identification using single band image highly depends on image quality and descriptor of features.Degradation of the image quality will directly influence the identifying capability.In order to increase target recognition rate of multi-class ships,the features of target image were designed,and the features were fused by covariance.For multi-band images,parallel processing of the features was used,and multi-ship targets were identified and classified by the fused features after fusion.Experimental results show that recognition rate obtained by using the designed fusion features is higher than that obtained by using HOG for single band image.And feature fusion of multi-band images performs better.It can achieve recognition rate of more than 95% .
