As the key mechanical components of belt conveyor lack effective monitoring means at present,a monitoring and warning system of the key parts in belt conveyor was proposed based on infrared thermography. Infrared images of the motor,rollers and other key transmission components in belt conveyor were collected in real-time with infrared imager. Using infrared image processing and pattern recognition technology,the collected images were segmented,extracted and classified,the automatic identification of the typical elements were realized,such as the motor,roller,etc. According to the identified component type and the component temperature,the fault level of key parts was judged,and the fault warning was achieved. Experimental results show that the method can achieve automatic identification and fault warning of belt conveyor.
